LAGOS
Lagos was our base camp during the trip to Portugal’s Algarve region. Located in the Western Algarve, it’s surrounded by dramatic coastal scenery and some of the best beaches in the area — a perfect escape from winter.
The highlight is Ponta da Piedade, perhaps the most iconic spot in Lagos. The Atlantic Ocean has carved grottos, stone arches, and sea caves into golden cliffs, creating one of the Algarve’s most breathtaking landscapes. At the tip of the promontory stands a lighthouse, offering panoramic views of the coastline.
Lagos itself is full of character, with a rich historical heritage. Its whitewashed houses, narrow streets, and quiet charm often remind visitors of Greece. I only wish we had more time to explore it properly.
